Project Value: Approx $100,000
Status: Complete
Duration: 8 weeks
Dukes completed an external repaint of Busways’ North Shore headquarters in Pymble and delivered the project over an eight-week program while the site remained fully operational.
Our team had previously completed a commercial painting project for Busways to a high standard, and we were once again engaged to carry out an external repaint of their North Shore office. The goal was to refresh and protect the building façade with minimal impact on day-to-day operations.
The full scope included surface preparation, building repairs identified during site works, and the application of a full exterior coating system. All works were carried out while the building remained operational, with careful coordination to minimise disruption for staff and visitors.
Rope access was used to complete works on the upper levels of the building, while ground-based access was sufficient for the lower sections and entry points. This approach allowed the team to work safely and efficiently within a live commercial environment.
The project required thoughtful coordination to work around the constraints of a live commercial environment:
“The client expressed satisfaction with minimal disruption during works, and was pleased with the improved aesthetics and professional finish.”
Busways were pleased with the improved appearance of the building and the professional finish we delivered. They also appreciated how smoothly the project ran, with minimal interruption to staff or site use.
It was a strong, efficient, well-managed result that aligned with what the client expected from a repeat engagement.
We kept in regular contact with the Busways team throughout the project with clear updates and by staying responsive as the work progressed. The scheduling was coordinated to suit office hours, which helped us to avoid unnecessary interruptions and keep things running smoothly on site.
We applied the Dulux Weathershield external coating system, chosen for its durability, UV resistance and reliable performance in exposed North Shore conditions. It’s a proven option for commercial sites that need to look sharp and stand up to the elements over time.
The repaint gave the building a sharper, more modern appearance. The updated façade now reflects the professionalism of the organisation and provides a stronger first impression for visitors.
The Busways Pymble project involved an external repaint of Busways’ North Shore head office building to give it a fresh, professional appearance and long-lasting protection. Having successfully completed a project for Busways in the past, Dukes was engaged again to update the building’s façade with minimal impact on day-to-day operations. The scope of work covered extensive surface preparation, addressing any building repairs uncovered during the process, and then applying a full Dulux Weathershield exterior coating system. The repaint was delivered over an eight-week schedule while the facility remained in use.
We ensured the Busways office could operate normally by planning the project around the client’s working hours and needs. Dukes coordinated closely with the Busways management team to schedule painting activities at times that would least disturb staff and visitors (for instance, focusing on certain areas outside of peak office times). For accessing the upper floors of the building, our painters used rope-access techniques (industrial abseiling), which eliminated the need for large scaffolding and kept the ground level clear. Meanwhile, ground-level sections were painted using standard access equipment without impeding entryways.

Yes! With proper planning, a commercial property can be repainted while daily operations continue. Our team has extensive experience working in “live” environments, and we often organise projects in stages or during off-peak times (such as evenings or weekends) to accommodate the building’s schedule. We liaise with facility managers and tenants before and during the project to schedule work at convenient times and to keep entrances, pathways, and parking areas as clear as possible. Comprehensive safety measures (like signage, barriers, and spotters) are implemented to protect occupants and visitors.
